Dear CREW Pilates Client

Many of us are weathering a financial storm with the COVID-19 crisis, and our studio is no different. We are an independently funded small business. Until recently, we relied solely on clients through the door and rental income from our fellow practitioners to pay our monthly bills. Our beautiful studio was closed on 16 March 2020 and with it, our regular income has dried up. To add to our injuries, our family situation has changed overnight and both my husband and I are without an income at this time.

The Studio’s current financial situation:

We sell our time at CREW Pilates. We teach and we earn. We need to teach 40 hours per month at our studio in order to break even. From May, we have been granted some limited financial relief by the bank on our mortgage for a period of five months. The financial support from the French government for our sector is uncertain. Our remaining expenses for The Studio are around €849,40 per month. This excludes any profit/salary earnings.

CREW Pilates has been open since April 2015. In our five years in business, we have had an impeccable track record financially with not a single bill paid late. In addition, we value the expertise of our freelancers and pay one of the higher rates per hour on the Riviera. At this time, we’re in desperate need of financial support.

What about generating an income online?

Around the world, many fitness and wellness studios are moving their classes online in a bid to keep their turnovers ticking over. And while I agree with the idea of paying for our invaluable services, at this exceptional time I felt a strong desire to give back to my community and clients by offering free online live classes. Many of you have shared your personal stories of loss at this time: loss of income, emotional/mental health and so on. I realise that a routine Pilates practice has an important role to play in rebuilding us all at this incredibly vulnerable time. It was Joseph Pilates who said, “Change happens through movement and movement heals.”

It was Joseph Pilates who said, “Change happens through movement and movement heals.”

The domino effect of this crisis is undeniable. We all need to ask: how can I give back? What can I do to make a difference? In asking these questions of myself, I realised that I am able to keep our clients moving and healthy. It is for this reason that I have chosen to keep our online group sessions for free at this time. Private sessions are offered at a 40% discount.

How can you make a difference?

For those who wish to give back to our studio at this time of need, we would be eternally grateful. Payment — no matter how small or large — can be made by electronic transfer to the bank details below:
